If you're writing about something that doesn't exist (yet), do you provide detailed explanations and hold the reader's hand? SF used to be that way almost exclusively, until some writers decided to try just jumping in with both feet, and letting the reader catch up. Partly that's just a science fiction thing. The further in you go, the more you'll understand, but you'll have to do some work. What needs to be understood you'll eventually get by context, with a direct explanation only if it's critical that you get it. Words will be unfamiliar, concepts will be unfamiliar. You're not supposed to understand Neuromancer line by line, paragraph by paragraph, as it happens. No, it's good, you just need to know how to read it.
